Di jepang, Pee Wee Gaskins dikira Yakuza

Cerita-cerita unik dialami oleh Pee Wee Gaskins selama berada di Jepang pada medio Agustus lalu. Dari terperangah karena kebersihan dan ketertiban masyarakat Jepang, sampai mereka yang dihindari karena disangka anggota kelompok Yakuza.

Hal tersebut karena para anggota Pee Wee Gaskins yang mempunyai tato berada di dalam transportasi umum semisal kereta saat di Jepang. Diakui, para penumpang pun sedikit menghindar ketika ada Pee Wee Gaskins.

"Mereka pada ngindar. Langsung ngasih jarak gitu saat kami duduk di kereta. Kalau kami berdiri, mereka ngelihatin dari atas sampai ke bawah. Maklum, karena Yakuza adalah hal yang paling mereka hindari," ucap Dochi saat ditemui di Alfa Records, Pancoran, Jakarta Selatan (7/9).

Selain itu, Dochi (bass, vokal), Sansan (gitar, vokal), Ai (gitar), Omo (synthesizer/keyboard) dan Aldy (drum) menemukan Sukiya, yang bisa dibilang sebagai warteg di Jepang. Mereka pun mendapatkan harga murah di rumah makan tersebut.

"Orang bilang di Jepang makannya mahal. Tapi untung ada Sukiya, kalau di sini kayak warteg. Di sana 35 ribu (rupiah -red) sudah kenyang banget. Jadi pada irit beli makan biar bisa beli yang lain," tukas Sansan.

Pee Wee Gaskins

Pee Wee Gaskins adalah grup musik asal Jakarta yang resmi terbentuk pada tahun 2007. Hingga saat ini, formasi Pee Wee Gaskins yang belum mengalami perubahan mayor terdiri atas Dochi, Sansan, Omo, Aldy, dan Ai. Hingga saat ini mereka telah merilis 3 album, yaitu Stories from Our High School Years (2008), The Sophomore (2009), dan Ad Astra Per Aspera (2010).
Para penggemar band ini biasa disebut Party Dork, Dorkzilla, maupun Tatiana.  Namun, mereka juga dibenci oleh sebagian orang yang disebut Anti Pee Wee Gaskins, atau sering disingkat APWG, atas alasan yang tidak jelas.
Nama Pee Wee Gaskins sendiri berasal dari nama julukan seorang pembunuh berantai asal Amerika Serikat, Donald Henry Gaskins. Awalnya Dochi dan Sansan menginginkan nama yang terkesan kejam dan memutuskan untuk mencari nama pembunuh berantai. Merekapun menemukan nama 'Pee Wee Gaskins' dan menganggap nama tersebut lucu dari luar tetapi menyimpan sisi kejam di dalamnya.

• THE STORY SO FAR:
  Pee Wee Gaskins originally began as a solo project for Guitarist/vocalist/song writter Dochi Sadega on Ihcod Agedas in Mid 2007. After swelling to a full line up, we searched the internet for a new band name that's catchy, fun, and deadly at the same time. And then we eventually tagged the words 'serial killer' to the search engine. we found 'Donald Pee Wee Gaskins' and the rest.. as they say.. was history. Pee Wee Gaskins creates a uniquely infectious blend of guitar-mangled, multy layered, melodic rock and catchy synthesizer melodies reminiscent of early the get up kids fused with fall out boy, which cases our effusive pop punk influenced sound.
